Time Allotment      : 2 x 40 Minutes


A.    Main Competency
1.     Appreciating and being grateful of his/her religion.
2.     Appreciating good behaviors (honesty, discipline, responsibility, care, good manner, curiosity, confidence, tolerance, intrinsic motivation, healthy life style, and environmental friendly) in social interaction effectively and naturally within the student’s communicative environment.
3.     Understanding knowledge (factual, conceptual, and procedural) in science, technology, art, culture, and humanity on the basis of religious insight, nationalism, state, and phenomenon – concerned civilization and existing phenomenon which looks real.
4.     Trying, processing, and presenting everything in concrete domain (using, explaining, stringing up, modifying, and constructing) and abstract domain (writing, reading, calculating, drawing, and composing) in line with the material which has been learnt at school and other sources that are theoretically the same.

In the end of the learning process the students are able to:

2.     know the meaning of written and oral recount text
3.     compose the recount text about activities/events.

1.   Social function:Reporting, modeling, applying the various experiences, etc.
2.   Text structure

a.   Giving orientation with mention people that involved, place, time, and so on from event/experience that will be delivered.
b.   Explaining event sequence chronologically.
c.   Closing by giving comment or general assessment about event/experience that has been mentioned.



3.   Language Features
a.   Using Simple Past tense, Past Continuous
b.   Using vocabulary that shows action or event.
c.   Using Adverb of Time: first, then, after that, before, at last, finally, etc.
d.   Using Adverbial of Timeandprepositional phrase: yesterday, last month, on Monday, an hour ago, immediately, etc.
e.   Using appropriate nominal singular and plural, a, the, this, those, my, their, etc.
f.    Using correct spelling and punctuation
g.   Hand writing
h.   Do it by yourself
4.   Topic
Event or experience that happens in the school, home, and the other places and relevant with students’ life.

5.   Example of Recount Text
Camping

Last weekend, my friends and I went camping. We reached the camping ground after we walked for one and a half hour from the parking lot.
We built the tent next to a small river. It was getting dark and cold, so we made a bonfire. The next day, we spent our time observing plantation and insects while the other girls were preparing meals. In the afternoon we went to the river and caught some fish for supper. At night, we made a bonfire near the tent. We sang, danced, read poetry, played magic tricks and even some of us performed a standing comedy.
Next day, we prepared ourselves to back home. We packed our bags and threw our rubbish in the trash can. At 11 am we back to home. I was very happy because I can spend my time and having fun with my friends.

G.     Learning Activity
a)     Pre-activity    (10 minutes)
In pre-activity, teacher:
1.     greets students friendly; and
2.      explains the indicator of competency achievement which is going to be achieved in the learning process.
b)     Whilst-activity(50 minutes)
1.       Observing
In observing activity, teacher:
·       shows and gives an example of recount text entitled ‘Camping
·       asks student to read and copy the text that has given to catch the students’ attention; and
·       guides students to identify the social function, text structure, and linguistic elements of the recount text


2.       Questioning
In questioning activity, teacher:
·       stimulates students to ask questions about recount text which has been read; and
·       facilitates and answers students’ questions by focusing the language such as: grammar and vocabulary about how to write a good paragraph (teacher answers the students’ questions while explaining the way how the paragraph is written based on the language point).
3.       Exploring and Associating
In exploring and associating activity, teacher:
·       explains the theory of recount text, such as definition, generic structure and language features.
·       asks student to compare one example of recount text with another example to know more about language features and vocabulary.
·       gives a topic about experience to the students and let them to determine the tittle of their text.
·       guides the students to draft and write the paragraph based on the topic.

4.       Communicating
In communicating activity, teacher:
·       points some students to write down their paragraph on the white board and submitt all of students’ paragraph
·       asks students to give corrections to the paragraph.
c)     Post-activity (20 minutes)
In post-activity, teacher:
1.       reviews the material by giving some questions to the students
2.       and the students identify obstacles which are faced during the teaching learning process
3.       gives feedback and reinforcement on the students’ statements about their obstacles in understanding the material
4.       and the students conclude the learning material; and
5.       gives homework to revise the paragraph that they have made.
